We offer a wide range of research projects in the field of homogeneous catalysis and organic synthesis of pharmaceuticals and natural products for internships, bachelor's, state examination, and master's theses. Summer Term

Organic Chemistry for Biological Sciences and Teaching Degrees in Biology

  • The course offers an introduction to organic chemistry with many examples from biochemistry (4 semester periods).
  • Recordings of the course are availabel on YouTube in German.
  • The examination will take place on Thursday, 08/01/24, from 1 p.m. in the Audimax Ulmenstraße 69

Organic Chemistry 5: Organic Molecules - Synthesis and Application

  • The lecture for Chemistry Master is held by Prof. Malte Brasholz and Prof. Peter Huy (2 semester periods each)
  • Prof. Huy's part focuses in particular asymmetric syntheses, retrosynthesis and organocatalysis, especially Lewis base catalysis
  • Recordings from previous teaching terms are published on YouTube!
  • The next oral examinations will take place on 02/15/24.

Biochemistry

In this course for Master's and Teaching degrees in chemistry, metabolic pathways are primarily discussed, with a focus on reaction mechanisms (1 semester period).

Winter Term

Fundamentals of Chemistry for Medical Degree Programs

This module for medical degree programs as human medicine and dentistry provides an introduction to chemistry. It consists of lecture (4 semester periods). an experimental lecture (1 semester periods) and exercise seminars with 1 semester period. Topics comprehended are general and inorganic chemistry, physical chemistry, organic chemistry, and biochemistry. The lecture is supported by exercise seminars and a separate lecture where experiments are included.

  • Videos with the lectures from previous teaching terms are available on YouTube!
  • The examination will take place on Saturday, 02/17/24, from 10 a.m. in the Audimax and the Arno-Esch lecture halls I and II (Ulmenstraße 69).
  • The first re-examination will take place on Friday, 03/22/24, from 10 a.m. in HS001 and HS002 in the Institute of Chemistry (Albert-Einstein-Str. 3a)
  • The second re-examination will take place on Friday, 09/20/24. Time and place will be announced in due time.
  • The next oral Z1 examinations will take place on 03/06/24.

Organic Chemistry 03b: Natural Products

In this course for Bachelor Chemistry, natural products such as carbohydrates, amino acids, nucleic acids, and lipids are discussed (2 semester periods). Now exclusively on YouTube!

  • The examination will take place on Tuesday, 01/31/24, from 8 a.m. in HS001 in the Institute of Chemistry (Albert-Einstein-Str. 3a)
  • The re-examination is schedueled on Tuesday, 26th of March 2023, from 10 a.m. in HS001 in the Institute of Chemistry (Albert-Einstein-Str. 3a)
  • The date of the second post-exam in the lecture-free period of the summer semester 2024 will be announced in time.
